INTERMEDIATE MUSIC

year 9 & 10
Semester One presented some wonderful opportunities and huge challenges for Intermediate Music specialism. Hard work early in the year meant students had already experienced some time in the studio, some ensemble collaboration and lunchtime performances.
Heading into remote learning we knew Showcase wouldn’t look the same. Rather than the usual 12 minutes on stage for the combined class, students were set the challenge to create their own solo ‘showcase’ of 12 minutes; essentially three contrasting pieces of their own choosing. The musicians then dedicated hours of remote learning to learning, practicing, performing, recording and uploading to our Team for feedback and critiquing.
With so much time in solitude, it was also a perfect opportunity to begin our composition CAT. The musicians dedicated many hours a week to original music creation. Adam, Jacob and Jon-Anthony even managed to collaborate remotely in an alt-metal style composition.
The recordings you see today are a combination of these “showcase” pieces and compositions, recorded live, upon our return to school. Put on your headphones or dial up the volume on your stereo and enjoy some wonderful music making from Intermediate Music specialism.
